Although only a mile from Junction 23 of the M1, The Grange Courtyard, awarded Silver Award for the Best Bed and Breakfast Award in the East Midlands 2006 and RAC Little Gem, stands in its own beautifully tended grounds which positively radiate peace and tranquillity. It's believed that part of this lovely Grade II listed building dates back to the 11th century. The house was extended in Tudor and Georgian times and amongst the distinguished men and women reputed to have stayed here is no less a personage than Queen Elizabeth I. Recently, the owner of the Grange, Linda Lawrence, has lovingly restored the house to provide luxury accommodation, all rooms have en-suite bathrooms, with both bath and a shower, and are provided with luxury bathrobes, hair dryer and organic toiletries especially created for the Grange. The rooms all have direct dial telephones, along with a TV, video cassette player or DVD player and clock radio alarms. The comfortable residents' lounge overlooks the garden and there's a fully licensed bar on the balcony above the lounge in one of the cottages which have been imaginatively created from former agricultural buildings attached to the Grange and provide luxury accommodation in 20 individually designed executive suites. These have their own dining room, kitchen and cooker.
