    The Bridge Hotel
    Product ID: 34169
    Highland
    Helmsdale Sutherland
The Bridge Hotel was built in the early 19th century, at the head of the old Helmsdale river bridge. Today the hotel has become the front of the village square, spared the noise of heavy traffic by a new bridge which bypasses the centre of Helmsdale. The Resident's Lounge is the pride of the Bridge Hotel. It has a traditional ambience, with 11 full head mounts of local stags on its walls. Above the fireplace, a moose and 2 reindeer bear witness to the fact that these animals once roamed the Highlands. Roe, Sika and Fallow deer mounts complete the collection of wild ungulates found in Scotland today. The lounge invites guests to have a comfortable seat and enjoy a nightcap from the honesty bar in front of the open fire. The Resident’s Lounge also has a wide screen TV with a DVD and VHS player, as well as a wide collection of books and magazines. The hotel can provide a dog bed free of charge. One large or 2 small dogs may accompany you to the hotel. The hotel serves breakfast in its breakfast room every morning. The Lounge Bar, with its quiet, warm and friendly atmosphere offers light fare, which can be eaten as an aperitif, including oysters, langoustines, smoked salmon, home made game pates or wild fowl terrines. The hotel kitchen prepares traditional Scottish produce, including game, fish and seafood. Fresh from the the hill, the river and the sea; salmon, trout, deer, hare, grouse, woodcock, snipe, duck, lobster, oysters, mussels and scallops adorn the menus. In the dining room, you can enjoy these Highland specialities in front of a roaring log fire. In the Bistro more casual lunches and dinners are served. Whilst eating you can watch the lobsters and crabs, fresh from the Helmsdale Harbour, in the 2 large fish tanks built into the room's walls. If you wish to stay in the comfort of your room, you can enjoy room service between 07:00 and 22:00. WI-FI is available on the ground floor free of charge 24 hours a day.
